Getting found

A beautiful website nobody can find is money down the drain.

Anyone can build you something pretty. The hard part is making sure people find it. That's the bit that actually gets your phone ringing, and it's been my job for over a decade.

The industry's dirty secret

Most web designers can't get you found on Google.

Here's what usually happens. You pay for a website. It looks lovely. Everyone's pleased. Then it sits on page five of Google forever, and the phone stays quiet.

There's an old joke in my world: where's the best place to hide a body? Page two of Google. Nobody looks there. And most website builders, even the expensive agencies, treat getting found as an afterthought. Something to bolt on later, for another invoice.

My background

I did it the other way round.

I'm not a designer who dabbles in Google. I spent more than ten years getting businesses found on Google (fire safety firms, estate agents, shops, tradespeople) before I ever sold a website. It's called SEO, and it was my whole career.

One of my own websites grew so well that in 2021 I was shortlisted for a worldwide Publisher of the Year award, out of thousands of candidates. I didn't win, but being in that room, off the back of my own project, told me everything about whether this stuff works.

So when I build your website, getting found isn't bolted on afterwards. It's baked in from the first brick.

In plain English

What “built to be found” actually means.

Google can read every page

Websites have an under-the-bonnet structure Google relies on. Mine is done properly from day one. Most aren't.

Fast. Properly fast.

Nobody waits for a slow website, and Google quietly punishes them. My sites load in the blink of an eye.

Written how people search

Your customers type “emergency plumber Sale”, not “bespoke fluid solutions”. Your website speaks their language.

On the map

Your Google Business Profile (the box with the map and reviews) set up and connected to your website properly.

Every town you cover

If you work in five towns, your website says so, in the way Google understands. Not just a list in the footer.

Nothing missed

Titles, descriptions, the way Google shows you in results: every box ticked before launch, not “in phase two”.

The new bit most developers haven't caught up with

People don't just Google any more. They ask ChatGPT.

More and more of your customers are asking AI tools like ChatGPT, Google's AI answers and the assistant on their phone questions like “who's a good electrician near me?” The AI reads websites, decides who to trust, and recommends someone. By name.

Getting your business into those answers has a name: GEO, being found and recommended by AI. Most web developers haven't even heard of it. It's where getting found on Google was fifteen years ago: the businesses that move first win.

Every website I build is structured so AI tools can read it, understand exactly what you do, where you do it and why you're trusted, then put your name forward. Same website, working twice as hard.

The honest bit

What I won't promise.

Anyone who guarantees you the top spot on Google is lying to you. Nobody controls Google. Walk away from anyone who says otherwise.

What I do promise: your website launches with nothing missed and every advantage in place. That alone puts you ahead of most local competition. And if you want me actively working on getting you more customers from Google month after month, that's my Growth plan.
